I am employed within the Lancaster Environment Centre as one of five Professors in Practice, to link my research and teaching at the University with my role as a Research & Conservation Officer within The Wild Trout Trust

I work closely with angling clubs, societies, Rivers Trusts, Wildlife Trusts, and landowners to make life better for wild trout in my role as a Conservation Officer. My 'patch' is the North.In addition, I provide an essential link between academic research and in-the-river practical delivery of projects. I translate science into an understandable and applicable format through information papers and link together universities and their students with the Wild Trout Trust.

Research: The application of stable isotope techniques to answer ecological questions In particular in relation to trophic interactions in lakes and rivers, cross ecosystem-boundary transfer of nutrients, use of methane-derived carbon, and the effects of invasive species on aquatic ecosystems.
