I'm currently working with the Media team at GovCIO, a fast-paced, innovative company. GovCIO develops extremely successful transformations in government IT.Before GovCIO, I’d worked with Politico—creating ads and marketing materials, improving visual branding, and developing digital/printed environmental graphics for live events.During my 23 years with National Geographic as an award-winning Art/Design Director, I led several visual teams' efforts with multi-million dollar global brands appearing in magazines, books, apps, games, and products. Guiding branding and identity relaunches and their subsequent strategic implementation became my forte. I led redesign efforts, created prototypes, launched new products, directed digital magazine editions and app UX/UI design, created television presentations, and directed photo shoots. I have been fortunate to collaborate with some of the publishing industry’s best editors, designers, photo teams, illustrators, photographers, cartographers, and marketers.In my creative management experience, I have always been passionate about—and fully committed to—the work and the staff. That passion helps to build an energetic, positive environment where visual teams are responsive, forward-thinking, and able to rely on one another for thoughtful, constructive critque.The formula hasn’t steered me wrong. NG Kids magazine soared from 700k subscribers to over 1.3 million, becoming the largest circulating kids magazine in the world; Little Kids magazine was profitable from year one and continues to earn praise and awards each year; The Children’s Book division overcame dwindling sales to become a robust category-smashing success; and the Core Book division became much more nimble in the non-fiction publishing industry with a multitude of successful, top-selling titles. At Politico, our team refined the design aesthetic of live events and enhanced branding for some of its best-known products.
