The Australian Baha'i Community each year elects it's national governing body, the National Spiritual Assembly, by secret ballot. The National Secretary is the elected chief executive officer of the National Assembly and oversees all its administrative affairs. In Australia the National Office, based near the Baha'i House of Worship in Sydney, has over 30 staff working across multiple locations around the country. The National Assembly is responsible for the stewardship, as the voice of moral authority, for a Baha'i community in Australia of 15,000-20,000 individuals, with more than 180 local elected governing councils known as Local Spiritual Assemblies, and three Regional Baha'i Councils.
