Immokalee Friendship House Shelter ManagerSt. Matthew'S House (Southwest Florida) May 2015 - Dec 2016Immokalee, FlWith restoration to a life of wholeness for individuals facing homelessness our primary goal, I managed a 44 bed, Emergency Housing Shelter Program facility in the agriculture community of Immokalee, Florida. Supervising 12 staff members and interns including: Case Managers, Program Staff, Justin's Place Interns as well as BSW Interns from local universities. We managed approximately 270 residents in the last fiscal year from intake to discharge; typically a 90-180 day stay. This included individual, strength based, case management to overcome barriers to self-sufficiency and spiritual and emotional health. In my time serving as manager I was able to offer strong leadership qualities building almost an entirely new team and streamlining training in best practices for the field. I have also had the privilege of coordinating private grant dollars to install a new playground and shade structure and remodeling our family common area to be more conducive to the creativity of the children under our care. I've been able to coordinate and allocate private grant dollars for the installation of two new A/C units and added new R30 blown-in insulation to our attic. I've began working on raised bed gardens for sustainable produce to use in our kitchen and establishing a ECHO agriculture curriculum and certification from seed to harvest.
