Kinetochores are complex protein machines controlling microtubule attachment of the chromosomes within the mitotic spindle. I study how kinetochores ensure efficient capture, bi-orientation and congression of chromosomes during mitosis. To do this, I use mechanistic computational models calibrated to quantitative data from lattice light sheet microscopy via Bayesian inference. The models incorporate hidden states which can be related to distinct biological behaviours to provide insight into what determines the risk of chromosome mis-segregation.

Taught undergraduate students in groups of 2 or 3 on topics including introductory calculus, integral transforms, differential equations, integration, and constructive mathematics. Marked and graded problem solutions and exam papers. Prepared material to cover in the tutorials and showed flexibility in tailoring to the needs of the individual students. Interviewed prospective undergraduate candidates.

Worked within the research and development team on a project investigating event detection in football matches using deep learning methods. Worked collaboratively on a software framework to clean and structure a dataset of events. Applied a Bayesian linear model to correct for mislabelling of data. Trained and evaluated neural network models on this dataset using the Tensorflow library. Gained experience with tools for data engineering and collaborative software development including Docker and git.

Planned and executed a successful training programme for several rowing crews, resulting in wins in events against other Oxford colleges such as at Autumn Fours and Torpids as well as competing externally on a national level at WeHorr and Henley Women's Regatta. Sustained motivation in a squad of around 20 rowers throughout the season. Communicated technical coaching points to novice and experienced rowers.

Supported several pupils on a one-to-one basis, helping them to achieve successful outcomes in their A Level examinations. Planned and created teaching resources and session plans relating to a variety of different modules including statistics, mechanics and core techniques.

Investigated a project entitled: 'A stochastic-deterministic hybrid model for modelling reaction-diffusion equations' involving reading journal articles, simulations in MATLAB and analytical techniques. This was an undergraduate research project funded by the London Mathematical Society/Nuffield Foundation.

Worked in a team of actuaries as a junior actuarial student drafting letters and reports, carrying out pensions calculations, contributing to investment decisions and working on spreadsheets.
