. Worked with potential patients in this large volume (Avg. Census 160) substance abuse hospital/treatment facility to get them qualified and set up for admission. Duties include but are not limited to coordinating with referral sources as needed, participating in referral development activities, participating in pre-admission certification with third party payers, conducting admission review activities, establishing and maintaining rapport with clinical staff to ensure adequate, accurate documentation of patient’s care and providing training to new department employees. This position requires a thorough understanding of the facility’s treatment program and philosophy as well as a working knowledge of various aspects of alcoholism and drug abuse. This position required an ability to develop and maintain trust and rapport with potential patients through the admissions process.

Duties included placing advertising, estimating/bidding jobs, customer care/service, establishing relationships, insuring labor is paid on time, meeting deadlines, setting up jobs, etc... This small business became successful due to quality work, good relationships, repeat customers, and word of mouth. Returned to college in 2009.

Began as an independent salesperson selling Kirby Vacuums door to door in Greensboro. Had a high month of 23 sales, with several months of 15 plus sales. Promoted to recruiter and trainer where it was my responsibility to place ads, interview prospective salespeople, teach the demonstration and encourage them to show the product. Had a high month of 84 new dealer sales as a recruiter. Ran a van crew of 3-4 salespeople in the field where my duties included getting them to qualified prospects, closing sales, writing contracts, and service calls. Had a high month of 44 van sales. I spent 13 years in the Kirby Vac. business and was highly successful at it. It gave me a lot of experience in many areas, personal and professional.

Enlisted in the US Army in 1985 as a 55B (Ammo. Storage Specialists). Completed basic training at Ft. Jackson, SC then completed AIT (Advanced Individual Training) at Red Stone Arsenal, Huntsville, Alabama. I then spent 2 years in Darmstadt, Germany issuing, receiving, and warehousing all types of munitions at an ammo supply point (ASP). Then spent 2 years at Ft. Rucker, Ala as part of the 101st Airborne Division working with Apache Helicopters. Received an Honorable Discharge in 1989. Military taught many personal and professional skills/habits that are still part of whom I am today.
