Began as an independent salesperson selling Kirby Vacuums door to door in Greensboro. Had a high month of 23 sales, with several months of 15 plus sales. Promoted to recruiter and trainer where it was my responsibility to place ads, interview prospective salespeople, teach the demonstration and encourage them to show the product. Had a high month of 84 new dealer sales as a recruiter. Ran a van crew of 3-4 salespeople in the field where my duties included getting them to qualified prospects, closing sales, writing contracts, and service calls. Had a high month of 44 van sales. I spent 13 years in the Kirby Vac. business and was highly successful at it. It gave me a lot of experience in many areas, personal and professional.

Jackson, SC then completed AIT (Advanced Individual Training) at Red Stone Arsenal, Huntsville, Alabama. I then spent 2 years in Darmstadt, Germany issuing, receiving, and warehousing all types of munitions at an ammo supply point (ASP). Then spent 2 years at Ft. Rucker, Ala as part of the 101st Airborne Division working with Apache Helicopters. Received an Honorable Discharge in 1989. Military taught many personal and professional skills/habits that are still part of whom I am today.
