The Dept of Pathology, part of the Medical Sciences Division and an internationally recognised centre of excellence for teaching and research, conducts scientific research covering broad biological areas including immunology, cell biology, bacteriology, virology, microbiology and molecular, and teaches medical sciences to undergraduates. The Dept consists of 5 separate buildings, providing 10,500 m2 of laboratory and support floorspace for over 25 research groups. First poc for all hard FM issues for departmental buildings in support of academic and research activities, reporting directly to the Head of Pathology. Responsibilities include line management of Head of Workshops and the workshop staff, electrical safety licence holder, project management of capital and refurbishment projects, client rep for new builds and construction teams, management of planned and response maintenance for both buildings and scientific equipment, liaison with Estates Services and contractors, biological containment, management of rapid response systems to respond to critical equipment failure, monitoring of the BMS (Trend), PAT, planning and delivery of emerging and changing departmental infrastructure requirements . Chair for the Site Management Group co-ordinating overall site management. Budget management, energy management, contract management.

Providing Building management of the Inorganic Chemistry and Dyson Perrins Buildings forming part of the Chemistry Estate. Taking responsibility for the day to day aspects of building management and maintenance as well as facilities and laboratory services provision. Supervision of technical personnel, with responsibility for their personnel management, training and development, as well as “hands on” participation in technical tasks as required to ensure a safe, efficient, productive and high quality research and teaching environment. Communicate, liaise and meet with academics, senior personnel and students both within the Department as well as the OUES and other University Departments and administrative functions.
