Currently quite busy but always happy to consider interesting projectsMy 'career' has been a series of projects I thought would be fun, which has led to working as a contractor/consultant mostly for early stage start-ups, but also for larger companies and some government work.My experience with both start-ups and within a research environment has given me a wide range of experience in different, often unusual, sub-disciplines and I'm always keen to try a new one. It has also taught me a lot about managing design risk when doing difficult designs quickly e.g only modelling to the degree of accuracy needed, how to compensate for uncertainty by designing for increased margins and when to ask someone else for help!My main career aim is to keep doing cool projects whilst saving up some money for my kids (uni is looking expensive!). Intermediate goals are to continue my adventure into high speed digital PCB design, work on the RF stages of certain types of quantum computers and try my hand in the states (if I can talk my wife into it).
