Hello! My name is Jonathan Heintz, and I am an Design Engineer II at DVG Team, Inc.Currently, I design utility grid upgrades for NIPSCO's 12kV distribution and 69kV transmission systems.Previously, I worked as a sub-contractor for multiple teams at HBK Engineering in their Power and Energy Division, located in Chicago. I assisted these teams by planning, designing, and reviewing projects based on ComEd's or Clients' needs. I also assisted with teaching new engineers the engineering standard practices on ComEd's 4kV, 12kV, and 34kV utility grids on a variety of different topics.I graduated from Purdue University Northwest with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. During my college career, I worked at Sencon Inc. where I quality-tested customer products, improved designs, created schematics, and built electrical systems. During college, I focused on subjects in Electrical Engineering that involved power and energy systems. My first role at Sencon was to update and create schematics, quality test products, and design equipment for sensors. This was done through AutoCAD, Altium Designer, and Modbus Poll. My final project at Sencon was to create an electrical system that calibrated the range of light sensors. This included researching components, buying components within the given budget, and the design, assembling, and coding the system. Outside of my experiences at Sencon Inc, I've worked on research projects related to hydroelectric power generation and a project about the creation of transmission lines on a theoretical electric grid. I helped as a teaching assistant in a communication course for the Purdue University Northwest Honors College. For my senior design, I designed and built a rangefinder that was capable of capturing photos and determining the height of the electrical poles. This data could then be compared to clearances and regulations, such as NESC clearances used and followed by utility companies.
