CurrentI am responsible for supporting day to day operation of the laboratory such that analysis is completed in a safe, timely and accurate manner and all instrumentation within the laboratory has maximum uptime, consistent with the enhancement of the refinery operation. My main responsible and skills are: • Analysis for routine and ad-hoc samples by using analytical instruments: ICP-OES – Organics, Waters, Solids. FAAS & GFAAS – Organics, Waters and Solids. Fluorescence Spectroscopy – Waters, Organics Ion Chromatography HPLC Gas Chromatography CFR engines• Being a part of a number of Method Optimization groups: Working to improve the performance of the CFR engines and thus reduce ‘giveaway’ Investigated and implemented procedure changes that resulted in reduced unit downtime and cost• Carry out Flash Test Assays on crude imports, rapidly reporting the results and comparing them to the crude field data• HF acid testing for the Alkylation Unit, involving high order safety procedures• Calibration, adjustments and maintenance instruments on a routine basis• Revise methods to meet the needs of users and compliance with internal and external quality standard requirements• Train personnel as business needs dictate• Being a part of the Laboratory Safety Team where I was a key member of 6S implementation• Cover for absences due sickness or holidays in all areas of the laboratory
