Jonathan aims to identify innovation opportunities and develop funding strategy to help the sector deliver cost competitive wave energy technologies. He is involved in global collaboration activities to develop innovation tools and processes, deliver consensus on performance metrics, and seek technology transfer opportunities to advance the sector towards commercialisation. He is currently very active on the development of strategy towards co-location of offshore wind with wave technologies, and the delivery of a funding programme for next generation wave solutions.

Wave Energy Scotland (WES) is driving the search for innovative solutions to the technical challenges facing the wave energy sector. Through our competitive procurement programme, we support a range of projects focused on the key systems and sub-systems of Wave Energy Converters. The aim is to produce reliable technology which will result in cost effective wave energy generation.

- Marine renewable energy project feasibility studies including:+ Technical analysis of device performance and required site characteristics+ Wave and tidal energy resource assessment and yield prediction+ Financial modeling of marine energy developments and commercialisation pathways - Market research and assessment of industry opportunities and capabilities- Assistance of supply chain companies including funding application support- Geographic Information Systems (GIS) experience- Comprehensive understanding of the renewable energy industry

- ADCP data analysis for tidal site assessment and turbine performance prediction- Development of ADCP data analysis software- Modeling of turbine scale-up performance and prospective site suitability

- Deputy to Chief Functional Engineer- Management of 7 engineers, providing technical direction and quality approval- Definition of departmental objectives and task delivery management- Technical and programme reviews with presentation to international customers

- Deputy to Chief Functional Engineer- Chairman of cross-company, multi-national working groups responsible for the performance of EJ200 and RB199 engines- Technical management of a Performance Engineering team- Delivery of detailed engineering tasks including engine upgrades and input to sales campaigns
