Currently leading a multi-country clinical evaluation and validation of TB diagnostics for monitoring treatment outcome in five countries of the GABRIEL international network (http://gabriel.globe-network.org/en): Madagascar, Bangladesh, Georgia, Lebanon and Paraguay. PI of an operational research project funded by Expertise France and Fondation Mérieux aiming to improve detection and management of latent TB infection in high-risk groups in Madagascar and Cameroon (APRECIT project, https://www.fondation-merieux.org/en/projects/aprecit/).

Lower respiratory tract infections, such as pneumonia, represent a state of rapid decline in lung functions and represent one of the leading causes of death among children under 5 years of age. Clinical data suggest that viral and bacterial co-infection increases pneumonia severity. Our aim is to understand how the innate immunity is modulated during multiple respiratory infections. This study will contribute to the understanding of mechanisms involved in pneumonia pathogenesis in children and will permit to identify potential biomarkers of disease severity.

Laboratoire Rodolphe Mérieux - Madagascar

As part of its mission to strengthen local capacities, Fondation Mérieux built an operational research and training centre in infectious diseases within the Faculty of Medicine and Science of Antananarivo. This centre (Centre d'Infectiologie Charles Mérieux Madagascar - CICMM) includes a BSL-2+ laboratory allowing molecular biology, a practical room and a conference room. Partnered with the Malagasy Ministry of Health, the centre is running since early 2010, welcoming 3rd cycle students and laboratory technicians working in Antananarivo and neighbouring regions.
