I am a business litigator and counselor. My practice concentrates on commercial disputes, with an emphasis on financial institution, real estate, and municipal matters. I also advise lenders regarding regulatory compliance issues.I have almost 30 years of wide-ranging experience prosecuting, defending, and resolving contractual disputes, business torts, and alleged regulatory violations in Philadelphia, across Pennsylvania, and up and down the Northeast Corridor. I frequently litigate cases in the Commerce Program of the Court of Common Pleas of Philadelphia.I have been recognized as a "Super Lawyer" for Business Litigation (from 2014 to 2020) and by "Best Lawyers in America" (for 2025) for expertise in Municipal Law. I regularly represent financial institutions, lenders, real estate developers, and businesses, including in: contract and commercial lease disputes; commercial loan work-outs and lender liability, including to consumers; fraudulent transfers; regulatory issues; privacy and bank secrecy; lien priority disputes; fiduciary matters; bankruptcy trustees and adversary matters in bankruptcy court; loan participation agreements; and land development disputes.I frequently counsel and represent companies and their directors, officers, and employees involved in pre-indictment investigations by federal and state authorities. I served as an Assistant District Attorney in the Appeals Unit of the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office, where I prosecuted more than 130 matters, both as appellee and appellant, before the Pennsylvania Supreme and Superior Courts. I maintain an active appellate practice.I often publish and speak regarding emerging business law issues.
