I'm a partner in the construction and engineering group at international law firm Taylor Wessing. I have specialised in disputes avoidance and complex claims within the built environment, both domestically and internationally, for over a decade. This often means working to enable the parties to resolve their differences between themselves, which is particularly important if the parties are in long-term construction and/or services contracts. Some practical solutions include structured mediation, non-binding joint recommendations or joint workshops to discuss and unpick complex issues.Of course, it's not always possible, or indeed advisable, to avoid formal disputes. In these instances, I utilise my knowledge of the construction, infrastructure and energy sectors to provide a disputes strategy which balances costs with risks and aims to avoid protracted proceedings.
