As a member of the company’s emergency spill response team, I respond to roadway and fixed facilities involving chemical and petroleum releases. Investigate, contain, control and mitigate hazardous material spills to minimize the impact to the public and environment. Assist with the selection of proper personal protective equipment to prevent worker exposure to hazardous substances. Perform confine space entry into permit required spaces. Work as a member of the company’s safety team to ensure workplace and job site safety.

As a full time firefighter, I am currently assigned to a station that allows me the opportunity to work as a member of both an engine company and truck company. Daily responsibilities include tasks typical to the fire service such as: responding to emergency medical calls, fire attack and suppression, vehicle extrication, response to hazardous materials incidents, public relations, equipment inspection, care and maintenance, and other duties as necessary in order to serve the crew, the department and the community.

While working as a part time employee, I perform the duties of a career Firefighter/EMT-I 85 which include: EMS, fire suppression, hazardous materials, fire prevention education, apparatus maintenance, station maintenance and report writing. My daily crew assignment vary from firefighter to driver to company officer according to staffing needs of the crew and department

I began my career as a volunteer firefighter for Walker County in 2006. In 2007, I joined the department’s full time staff as a Firefighter/EMT. I advanced from the position of firefighter to become a driver/apparatus operator and occasionally worked as an EMT for the department’s ambulance service during staffing shortages. I have assisted with the instruction of numerous recruit classes and multi-company drills. I served as a member of the SOP/SOG committee.
