Hey, my name is Jonathan Jecino. I am an undergraduate student at the University of South Florida. My major is Health Sciences with concentrations in aging and biological sciences. My goal is to become a Sports Medicine Physician. Throughout my college career, I have discovered a passion for the health and exercise sciences field. Specifically within this field, I would like to volunteer or start research to find out the sciences behind how the body works. I have experience through volunteering at Orlando Regional Medical Center and Dr. Phillips Hospital, both in Orlando, Florida. At ORMC, I started as a cafeteria volunteer then went to volunteer at an intensive care unit. Through volunteering at the cafeteria, I learned the simple customer service and hospitality skills by serving guests and walking patients to their table. At the ICU, I learned great communication skills by answering the phone and relaying messages from patients to nurses and techs. I also learned how to keep a workplace clean and in order by cleaning and setting up beds for patients and stocking any soaps or gloves. At the Dr. Phillips Hospital, I specifically volunteer at their Physical Therapy Outpatient facility. By volunteering at the outpatient facility, I learned how to help patients and physical therapists by prepping hot and cold packs, cleaning and sanitizing beds, and doing office paperwork. Through volunteering at the outpatient facility, I pick up how physical therapist do their jobs, such as learning what exercises patients do to rehabilitate from injuries. Other than volunteering, I have had several jobs that had help me by reinforcing cleaning work areas.
