This position continues development and improvement of PLZ’s comprehensive Safety Data Sheet (SDS) system and will be responsible for product compliance in areas of GHS, ingredient communication and transportation. Key Responsibilities: Provide direction and establish work processes to optimize ability to produce quality SDS documents.Develops documented SOPs and work instructions to support training and competency of safety data sheet reviews.Stay abreast of evolving regulations pertaining to products for compliance with GHS, OSHA Hazard Communication, DOT, WHMIS regulations.Coordinates internal and external services to maintain SDS authoring software.Supports continuous improvement efforts to provide data so that products are in compliance with Prop 65, VOC limits etc.Maintains accessible indices of raw material and finished good SDS.Works on cross-functional projects to develop compliance strategies for web sites and other projects as needed.

Responsible for leading Strategic, Global, Cross-functional data focused projects on the Departmental level as well as managing process/re-organisation and enhancement projects within Tox Team and other Hazcom Groups. I also support day to day operations to ensure timely and successful accomplishment of strategic projects together with an international team of regulatory experts.

This position is responsible for developing and maintaining "the nuts and bolts behind the scenes" of various Systems & Process Flows that are related to Regulatory Affairs. I do this by testing/evaluating data + rule sets, mapping databases, extracting, manipulating and loading of data updates within SAP EHS Environment, evaluating web volume trends (with regard to Safety Data), and dabbling with QSAR paired to extensive amounts Safety Data to predictively model hazards in the virtual world.

I use state, federal, country regulations and Sigma-Aldrich guidelines to review all chemical products which are offered for sale or used by Sigma-Aldrich. I then determine the hazard classification for these products and prepare safety data sheets and labels. I respond daily to customer inquiries regarding products toxicological and physical properties and will also assist with chemical spills and exposures. This position is responsible for maintaining, evaluating and testing the data and rules within SAP/ESP rules based system. I also conduct database mapping along with extracting, manipulation and loading of data within an SAP environment.
