I want to first establish that I do not know enough relative to what I need to know. Every role I have embraced has been a steppingstone in understanding what it is that I do not know and learning to rely on teamwork and community.Most recently at Rite-Solutions, I had the honor of supporting the U.S. Submarine Fleet, and was chosen as the leader of the model-based systems engineering product team at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center. We developed a roadmap for the digital transformation of systems engineering processes for combat systems, then very successfully adopted model-based systems engineering in two pilot subsystems. Though my master's degree specialized in model-based approaches to systems engineering, or MBSE for short, my biggest takeaway working at Rite was the true potential of integrating this modern engineering solution in large, conventional platforms.I first embarked on my professional expedition as an intern at Whiting-Turner in 2015. I was aww struck when I saw what I imagine was over a thousand construction workers, coming together every day to build a billion-dollar project. That piqued my interest to change lanes from my undergraduate studies in chemical and biomolecular engineering. My junior year of college, I started taking master’s classes in systems engineering, not necessarily computer systems, but more broadly speaking, complex engineered systems that require a multi-disciplinary orchestration to get done on time, on budget, and with the quality people deserve.
