Being part of the BRF allowed me to take part in more active and high risk operations. We were a relatively small group of selected soldiers commanded by a Special Forces Officer.• I was a member of the officer commanding tactical and protection group whilst on patrols.• Had an active role in casualty evacuation.• Constant surveillance and intelligence building on all aspects of insurgent locations, strengths, capabilities and movements prior to the start of OPERATION MOSHTARAK (The biggest offensive ever launched by NATO troops in Afghanistan)AFGHANISTAN – OPERATION HERRICK 16 – 2012• Patrol commander of varying amounts of soldiers and assets such as explosive detection dogs.• Contact and incident control with direct communications and passage of critical information to HQ (incident control centre)• In command of a team providing ‘Shura’ (military and tribal leaders meetings) all round protection.
