My main priority is leading my business and developing my team for future talent. Using space optimisation analysis and commercial awareness, I have generated a great increase in sales against 2019 pre-covid figures despite challenging footfall in the shopping centre location. I also have achieved success across my KPI’s, such as footfall, average basket value, units per transaction, iKiosk sales (of which I am the driver for the area), email opt ins and conversion rate. Managing the conversion rate recently has proved challenging due to the cost of living crisis; I took the initiative to combat this is by contacting my head office and the shopping centre to negotiate a marketing campaign.

My role as ASM was to support my store manager in developing my team for success. One main focus was training; I would regularly hold one to one meetings with the team of floor managers to discuss my expectations and how we can achieve them together. I ensured performance was managed effectively by use of performance reviews, one-to-one coaching, shift briefs, holding team meetings and refresher training. I hold my self accountable for visual merchandising; my strengths in this area were quickly recognised and I began assisting in other stores and store openings; including the new flagship store on Oxford Street, for which I was operations manager. I developed KPI awareness and control, and learnt how to influence results in a way that would benefit the store. Stock control is a very important area of focus as inaccuracies affect store sales and audit results; it was my responsibility to train the stockroom assistant with leading back of house functions and adhering to the company’s policies and regulations.

My day to day responsibilities were opening and closing the store, cash handling, being in control of up to 15 members of staff, ensuring I deliver relevant information to the team during shift briefs, motivating the team by creating a positive and fun working environment. As I was responsible for the floor, I always ensured I was making decisions that were best for the customer whilst taking into account company policies and profit margins. The Cambridge site was unique to Superdry as it had separate mens and womens stores, so I would liaise with the other store to ensure we ran as one smooth unit.

Within this role, I had a great opportunity to develop my customer service skills, product knowledge and help resolve complex customer queries. We were monitored on customer reviews; I always ensured I met my weekly targets and helped others do the same. I also supported with stock take preparation and delivery, learning more about the operations side of the company. Due to my hard work ethic, I was quickly recognised for out performing and ready for the next step up.
