Jonathan KnowlesProfessor Knowles, former Head of Group Research and Member of the Executive Committee at Roche up to the end of 2009, is a global opinion leader in personalized medicine. He was a member of the Board at Genentech for the last 12 years as well as a member of the Chugai Pharmaceuticals Board. He was the founding chairman of the Innovative Medicines Initiative Board and is well known for his long term passion for the concept of personalised health. Prior to this, he served as Director of the Glaxo Institute in Geneva for 10 years and also as Head of European Research for Glaxo Wellcome.Jonathan Knowles currently holds a Distinguished Professorship in Personalized Health Care at FIMM (Finnish Institute for Molecular Medicine) at the University of Helsinki and has a visiting chair at the University of Oxford. He is also a Member of the European Molecular Biology Organization, Professor Emeritus at EPFL, Lausanne and a visiting Scholar at Pembroke College, Cambridge. Between 2010 and 2016 he was been a trustee of Cancer Research UK. He has been a member of the MAVA Board from 2010.In 2013 he became the Executive Chairman of Immunocore Ltd, UK and Adaptimmune Ltd. UK and serves on the boards of a number of Biotech companies as a non executive director .He is committed working with public and private organisations around the world to move forward rapidly the implementation of individualised health. He is keen to help enhance the effectiveness of therapy through advanced diagnostics, digital health information and new medicines that attempt to cure rather than treat.
