I split technical support duties with another person for Celitic's in-house web application (CIBS) used by the entire company and the point-of-care desktop application (CPA) used by all the clinicians in the field, with a total of 1,500+ users. My main task was to solve user problems and answer user questions through our ticketing system and by email and phone. I resolved solutions to common problems by referring to internally-facing documentation or referring users to externally-facing documentation. If I discovered a bug- depending on the nature of the bug, how many users it affected, or how seriously it affected the user's experience- I reproduced the bug in production and development environments and wrote detailed bug tickets. By the end of four months, I was able to keep up with support duties which included bug investigations deep into the code, and I was able to devote 10% of my time to development tickets.Other duties included writing externally- and internally-facing documentation for common workarounds and bugs and creating tutorials for tasks in the applications that were a common source of confusion and generated a lot of support tickets. On my own, I also wrote JavaScript utilities that would streamline browser-based support processes (e.g. copying user permissions through the interface).The technologies I used there include VB/C# for ASP .NET, Oracle, and SQL Server. I became familiar with Atlassian's suite including JIRA, Confluence, and BitBucket.

My internship at Quantivate served as an introduction to the software development world. Coming after one semester of programming and no database experience, it laid the foundations for the rest of my learning.I began the internship with regression testing, becoming familiar with Quantivate's GRC software and learning to use Linux and Vim. Once I had a good grasp of their platform, I was tasked with writing utilities to automate internal processes in PHP, learning my second programming language. My final project was to write a testing structure for hundreds of functions that were part of their new security framework, given a set of functions and their parameters, and a set of inputs and expected outputs. Midway through the summer, I participated in the office move, setting up furniture and the network at the new location.Technologies: PHP, databases and MySQL, JavaScript, Vim, and Linux
