Appointed into the newly established CEO role to bring leadership and management clarity into a long-established Christian charity. Brought transparency and order to management and operational practices, quickly integrating established managers into a Senior Leadership Team. Led the charity from a financial position of £7.5K monthly deficit against £43K spend (£516K annual turnover), to being a £1.6m turnover charity with reserves and funds designated for future years. Established and led the delivery of the strategic plan for the charity following internal and external collaboration. Evolved the strategy mid-Coronavirus pandemic to retain agility and respond to changing needs, inclusive of jump starting a new initiative. Completely re-framed the charity’s identity and brand, clarified the charitable objects and vision statement. This strengthened its position within the city and partnership opportunities. Created a personal development culture and have taken personal responsibility for supporting the Senior Leadership Team in their development as leaders. Grown the staff team to 45 to deliver services more effectively for beneficiaries and ensure capable, accountable, and transparent running of the organisation. Led the charity to achieve NCVO Investing in Volunteering accreditation to demonstrate the value we put into our 300 plus volunteers. Has been a member of Bristol City Council Homes and Communities Board, local forum and strategic work groups.

Working with the board members and senior managers/leaders of both a refugee NGO and refugee school to review and assist them with improving their governance, management accountability and administrative practices.

Full responsibility for the leadership and operational management of an aid/development NGO. Focussed on defining the strategic intent and redesigning the organisation to meet that end. Development of key leaders within the organisation. Full budget planning and establishment of financial controls. Consulting with partner organisations to support the extension of their ministry activity in line with the charitable aims of the Trust namely the care of orphans, needy children, widows and the elderly.

Sought and achieved regular moves to manage different suppliers within the overall portfolio; managed the key strategic supplier with an €80m+ annual spend. Established robust and transparent processes for effective management of multi-functional teams and the suppliers, engaging the latter at CEO level. Consistently improved commercial relationships through resolution of inherited conflicts and reduced financial liabilities from $1m to zero.
