About Jonathan Lee
I first discovered I could build things with software when I was put in charge of configuring a building permit tracking application using "no code" (the application was used by dozens of staff and hundreds of customers). But then I wanted to actually learn the code and everything going on "behind the scenes". Soon after, I learned a little bit of Python and took a couple of classes in computer programming at a community college. After some additional time spent in roles working with IT professionals and providing IT support, I decided it was time I make things official and become a software developer. That's when I enrolled in Tech Elevator. What I love about software development is how similar it is to my past career in land development. With land development, you're planning the layout of the site and designing the buildings that are going to be built on the site. There is this vision of the final product and then bringing together different pieces and parts to make it real. Just the same with software development, except, instead of a piece of land, you're dealing with this place inside a computer. The journey to become a software developer has had its ups and downs but all of the people I've met and things I've learned have made it so worth it. I now have the skills to build things that can have a positive impact on others. I'm always looking to hear from others that are on the same journey. Please reach out if you'd like to connect virtually or in person!
