The Economist Service (ES) is a professional scheme of employment for economists in the Singapore public sector, who are involved in rigorous, policy-oriented economic research and analysis. As part of the ES since 2013, I have been rotated to various agencies (including the Ministry of National Development and Prime Minister’s Office) to help advance economic thought in Singapore's public policies.Recent responsibilities at the Ministry of Trade and Industry (since 2018) have included:- Macroeconomic coverage of key emerging Asia economies, particularly ASEAN- Forecasts of large, trade-oriented sectors in the Singapore economy, including the wholesale trade, commodities trading (oil, metals), maritime shipping, and aviation sectors, which form part of MTI's official GDP forecast for Singapore- Microeconomic research using various empirical econometric techniques- Providing evidence-based insights on emerging economic issues such as ageing, sustainability, climate change and energy
