Split time between Cadwalader's Capital Markets Department and Financial Restructuring Department. Work in Capital Markets included review of mortgage-backed security deals and associated issues as well as research of potential new securitized products. Work in Financial Restructuring varied widely and involved work for multiple clients, including LyondellBasell, the world's third largest petrochemical company, as well as the U.S. Treasury and Auto Task Force, related to the Chrysler bankruptcy. Assignments included researching numerous issues under both state and federal law, drafting stipulations and motions related to bankruptcy proceedings, reviewing financing deal documents, and working with clients to provide legal support to achieve specific business goals. Attended training and CLE workshops covering a spectrum of topics including derivatives and collateralized debt obligations, broker-dealer regulation and securities laws, bankruptcy issues, and techniques and practice pointers for pre-trial and trial litigation.
