My primary responsibility has been to provide insight into how the UK political system works, giving advice on the best approaches for engaging with MPs - maximising the chances for successful lobbying outcomes.As part of this, I mentor interns on effective lobbying and fundraising, holding regular meetings with candidates to discuss their progress and provide guidance to overcome any issues they are having.

Fundraising has been a key part of this role. To maximise donor accessibility, I developed an innovative method to generate QR codes from fundraising page URLs. This enabled QR codes to be printed onto flyers, allowing quick, easy scannable access to online fundraising pages. I also:- Attended four business networking events.- Forged business deal with a greetings card company - 10% of items sold going to The Borgen Project.- Mobilised 70+ people to contact their local MPs/MSPs.- Lobbied MPs to get support for important legislation.- Raised $500+ (so far).- Created a campaign video in support of the UK's Official Development Assistance.

Leading the development of Falkirk Council's first Digital Housing Strategy. This document allows the council to review how we can: enhance digital housing services, make better use of data, leverage technology to improve service provision and minimise digital exclusion. - Provided in-depth qualitative and quantitative analysis, as well as an evaluation, of Falkirk Council's services (in a housing context). From this, I made recommendations for improvements and produced a 5-year action plan.- Led consultation with a variety of internal/external stakeholders and organisations. I have also made extensive contributions to Falkirk Council's first Housing Revenue Account: Business Plan. This document is a 30-year strategy for managing and maintaining the existing housing stock of over 16,500 properties held in the HRS, focussing on: improving the quality of housing, increasing the supply of affordable housing, and delivering excellent customer service to tenants and other stakeholders. Outside policy, I now sit on a working group overseeing the implementation of new, exciting technologies to enhance service provision. My current focus is spearheading a pilot project aimed at putting sensors (monitoring: Temperature, Humidity and CO2 levels) into aged council stock. This will help meet EESSH's statutory obligations, make savings from pre-emptive repairs and, help identify mould/damp issues early - which will enable us to protect tenant and property health.

Aside from assisting students with homework assignments, test preparation and research, my key responsibility as an academic tutor was to convey complex ideas comprehensibly via numerous visual/oral presentations - which I have learned to do effectively. I believe the essential facet of communicating complex ideas is to be engaging and broadly accessible. Crucially, this does not mean simplifying concepts but rather adopting a pragmatic jargon-free delivery method to communicate simultaneously with knowledgeable and less knowledgeable audiences. For example, research papers burdened with wordiness may struggle to productively communicate their ideas, as these ideas are often buried under unnecessary layers of jargon-laden complexity.My tutoring experience has helped me develop my time management skills, increased my ability to solve complex problems proactively and, most importantly, has allowed me to develop essential communication and leadership skills – in that I have inspired and set the study direction for students, helping them to succeed in academia.
