This role was primarily support for the Vodacom network, I went on to gain expertise in the GPRS network and equipment as well as GPRS network optimisation. In 2004 I studied Chinese for a year at Fudan University in Shanghai at their Overseas Students College. I used the time to try to familiarise myself with China and aim to return there to work for a few years. In 2005 and 2006 I worked as a Measurement and Verification auditor for Eskom's Demand Side Management programme. The projects I was monitoring were all lighting projects. These required a range of methodologies for completing measurements, some of which I had to develop. The experience under the Demand Side Management programme will be easilyt adaptable to other energy management and greenhouse gas mitigation programmes. I am presently registered for a masters in Energy and Development programme at the University of Cape Town. The focus of this programme is on government policy, sustainability, climate change and energy modelling. I am presently occupied with completing the thesis portion of this postgrad degree. The topic will be on combining South Africa's energy models with international greenhouse gas mitigation models. I aim to work in the energy industry on sustainable energy projects linked to carbon trading and international mitigation agreements.
