Learning all about:* Routery Engraving Machines: Computerised engraving of name badges and small signs. Maintenance and was involved with the research and development of braille and tactile signage in association with Paul Snee from the RNIB. The system was rolled out to all for our franchisee's. My role was to train, support, create fonts for the engraving machines for the franchise network.I am an approved DDA signage surveyor and installer, supplied by the RNIB* Graphic Design: As my role expanded, I needed to learn about graphic design software. I took a basic college course in the evenings to learn about graphic design. This was possibly the most valuable thing I have done in my working career, as I wouldn't have been able to progress without this.* Short Run Promotion Printing: The franchise business had become stagnated, and the directors wanted to find new revenue streams for the business. Alex Newman and I found short run printing equipment in the warehouse. We created a research and development program to present to the directors for printing; t-shirts, hats, badges, small signs and so on printed products with no minimum order quantity. At the time this was ground breaking. These products have now become the core of Recognition Express's core business. * Training & Support: The business sold franchise businesses to people who wanted to own their own business. The team gave them training in all area's; marketing, accounts, production and manufacturing. The new franchisee's spent 1 week with me, learning about the graphics software and production processes. After which I would go to their premises and install the printing equipment they purchased with the franchise. Show less
