Whilst working with my Site Supervisor in Construction I have been accustomed to helping management adhere to this RR(FS)O 2005 and avoid litigation. I have helped achieve compliance with the order by taking part in work place fire safety checks, inspections of fire fighting media, aided fire drills and mitigated against unsafe behaviours by supervising hot works. By delivering a Site Induction to new contractors unaware of hazards and risks on site I reduced the incidence of injury/illhealth. To gain experience to go along with my knowledge and qualification I often volunteer to carry out fire risk assessments, health and safety risks assessments, method statements, and review safe working practices.

  Within my role as a firefighter I have to ensure that safety procedures are adhered to. This involves following protocol for the checking of life saving equipment. These checks are safety critical involving the checking of Breathing apparatus sets, function and capability checks of cutting equipment, engine driven pump maintenance and checks etc. As a Fire Fighter I am often challenged with times of great stress and pressure, I know it’s important to stay calm and focused on the task. From house fires to road traffic collision I have definitely become accustomed with a great deal of pressure. During an Operational incidents there is often need for urgency however I have to abide by strict Health and Safety Regulations alongside Service orders. This ensures myself, members of the crew and public do not further cause injury. I have been involved with mitigation techniques aiding fire prevention to raise the resilience of many at risk demographics.
