My role is to steer the architecture for new On-Premise and Cloud applications as well as the migration of existing applications from legacy systems to our cutting-edge platform. I collaborate across all teams including DevOps, Security, Network, Development, QA and Business Units to develop actionable strategies, guidelines, best-practices and road-maps. I work particularly close to DevOps to provide direct contributions for Containerization, Microservices, CI/CD, Vault and Kubernetes deployments. Responsible for directing architecture, technology, security, and technical debt efforts across all product lines. Particularly focused on Network Monitoring and WhatsUp Gold products. Initially hired as Chief Architect for NM and then later took on technical oversight responsibilities for all products. Recently have taken ownership of Release Engineering and DevOps for all products. Re-architected the WhatsUp Gold Polling system for reliability, scale, and remote distribution. Created an API Platform that enabled Mobile App offerings as well as custom integrations for customers and business partners. Designed and implemented Ipswitch Platform Services (IPS), an AWS cloud-based solution for supporting Next Gen products, as well as augmentation of existing on-premise products. Created an Externally Reported Vulnerability process for the tracking and remediation of vulnerabilities in accordance with Responsible Disclosure policy.

Architected and implemented a Cloud Push-Notification CEP framework, called Pulsar, which integrates WebSockets, GCM, APN and any other Push network. Pulsar runs entirely in an Amazon VPC and leverages SqS, ELB, S3, Self-Installing EC2s. Pulsar is designed for high-availability high volume auto-scale, and includes separate clusters for Registry Service, Event Processor, and WebSocket servers, and Audio Bridge Monitor. Led the technical integration and successful production delivery, across 4 teams, for the Company’s patented Conference Transfer solution. Conference Transfer allows meetings to be transferred seamlessly from one device to another. Participated in Architecture Steering Committee responsible for establishing technical guidelines and best practices across all projects. My role is to advise and implement technical solutions for the Global Meet Web product in particular, but also to provide direction for various other projects within the company. Technologies include Java, JSON, Jetty 8.1, Cometd, WebSockets, Google Cloud Messaging (GCM), Apple Push Notification (APN), Amazon Web Services (AWS), SqS, Cloud Watch, Elastic Load Balancer (ELB), EC2, S3, Android, Maven, JQuery, Jackson, Spring, MySQL RDS.

Defined road-maps and designs to steer overall System and Application Architecture across several teams for flagship SaaS Product (The Hub) using technologies such as Netezza, Queues, Schedulers, .NET and Java. The architecture provided a very scalable and extensible Grid Platform for most all Warehouse Marketing needs. Repositioned the system to include proper tiers for UI, Business Logic and Data in preparation for richer applications, migration to HTML5, and to create an Open Platform/API to better serve our clients, and evolve Partner integrations. Implemented SOA/SOE Governance program as well as built an efficient Messaging infrastructure using ActiveMQ bridged via Spring.NMS for seamless integration among .NET and Java components. Integrated Quartz.NET as a plugable System Scheduler. Designed Data Transfer Service (DTS) for highly adaptable integration with client and partner data, including email and SMS fulfillment. Responsible for reviewing all code and designs created across multiple teams of 30+ total developers (US, Russia, India) as well as implement a significant portion of the Platform directly. Participated as Scrum Master for team dedicated to Performance and Architecture. My role was to lead all design aspects for team of 30+ developers across 3 continents, author and present company road-maps for product and technology direction, represent company in terms of technology and architecture during client and partner engagements, mentor new developers, and to transition teams from off-shore to local US offices. Technologies included Netezza, SQL Server, .NET 4.0, WCF, ActiveMQ 5.4, EF 4.0, OLEDB, Quartz.NET, Jaspersoft, Silverlight 5, ASP.NET MVC3, Spring.NET, Spring.NMS and ADS (LDAP).

Repositioning existing architecture to align with modern SOE, capable of Grid Computing and highly-scalable Cloud computing as well as B2B Partner integration. My goal is to evolve the platform beyond a website to become the most powerful manufacturing platform.

Re-architected various aspects of the system to be more scalable, supportable, and to leverage modern technology. I completely overhauled the development environment, which included over 10,000 resources, to create a highly-integrated system that includes Subversion, Maven, Nexus, and Sonar. I formalized the mechanics of the release process, wrote and maintained all of the build scripts, and created a fully automated Development Integration environment to support the team. I created a Common Service Platform (CSP) that provides the standard foundation for SOE processes, including support for Grid Computing and ESB integration, and also included a Maven archetype allowing developers to create fully functional Service projects in seconds. Because the system was bloated, monolithic, and full of obsolete code, I personally refactored all the projects into modular components and removed over 2000 resources. I heavily documented and published key designs, how-tos, best-practices, and architecture road-maps. My role was to transfer knowledge from Geneva, re-architect entire system, set future direction of the architecture and best-practices, support Operations team, build and lead Atlanta-base development team. I've recently been promoted to Chief Architect. Technologies included Java 6, Resin 4, SQL Server, Spring Framework, Spring MVC, Spring Webflows, JMX, JMS, Active MQ, JAXB/JAX-WS, SOA, CXF, AJAX and Maven 3.

Architected and developed SOA/J2EE platform, components, and Webservices as part of the company's initiative to migrate from the mainframe to a J2EE enterprise. All the services make heavy use of JMS, SOAP, virtualization and elastic computing. The Business Data Publisher (BDP) service allows IHG to participate in real-time push integration with partners such as Expedia at a rate of 3 million updates per day. BDP generates $300 million in revenue per year for the company. All the services make heavy use of JMS and SOAP. The Turbo Availability services (RAS/CAS) allows IHG to offload availability requests from the mainframe, scaling over the SLA of 2000+ requests/sec. All of the applications were built on an innovative platform, called Durango, which I developed to provide a homogeneous SDK and runtime framework. Durango includes support for SOAP, JMS, Metrics, Access Control, Logging, Object Storage, Async-Computing and AJAX modules. I also initiated and implemented an end-to-end development environment that includes SVN, Twiki, CruiseControl, Maven, Ant, and Trac all running on Ubuntu 7. My role was to architect and build the framework, applications and development environment, and also to train the team on Web 2.0, Open Source, UML, J2EE, SOA and Agile Development. Technologies included CXF, ServiceMix, WebSphere 6.1, Spring Framework, JMX, JMS, MQ Series, Apache XML Beans, SOA, AJAX and Maven.

Designed and developed Communication Platform that collaborated with Security Metric Computation Servers. The Communication Server was a user-facing SOA webapp based on Web 2.0 initiatives. The architecture included a pure XML server written in Java, and a pure AJAX client written in Javascript/XML/XSL. Both the client and server were highly componentized. I also extended the Computation Platform with a plug-in data adapter framework, complete with an SDK for JCA, Java, and Javascript. My role was to lead the design/development effort for the Communication Server, introduce Web 2.0 technology, help build the team and influence the culture. Technologies included Tomcat 5.1, LDAP, Java 5, Javascript, DHTML, JCA, JavaCC, JDBC, XML, XSLT, SOA and AJAX.

Designed, developed, and deployed Maven Media Server for company's HD Media ASP service. MMS used Web Services to support client applications. It also implemented the HTTP 1.1 caching spec in order to participate in a state-of-the-art Content Delivery Network which included Squid and Akamai caching servers. The servers were written in Java running on Tomcat 4/Debian, and included support for Role-Based Security, DRM Encryption, VLF (Very Large File) Content upload sessions, Application/Content Publishing, and Hot-Loadable Application Components. Maven was bought by Yahoo for $150 million. My role was to lead the development of the servers and deploy them into production Technologies included Tomcat 4, JDBC, Class Loader, MS DRM, JNI, AJAX, XML, XSL, COM, C++, IIS and ASP.

Designed and developed Maestro, a high-performance event-driven Touch-point Integration Server. The server combined the power of an XML Rule Engine and the flexibility of a SOA integration framework. The Rule Engine was built for speed, and used a derivative of SRML to express business rules. The rules were dynamically compiled into Java classes and class-loaded. The SOA integration framework included SOAP, JMS, RMI, XML-RPC, and custom data adapters. The company went bankrupt and sold the software assets to AptSoft, which is thriving today. My role was to lead the development of the Maestro server, help build the team/culture, and introduce UML design. Technologies included SRML, Java, JDBC, JRun, Class Loaders, XML, XSL, LDAP, SOAP and RMI.Exchange Applications

Designed and developed cross-platform Workflow Engines for the company's flagship Campaign Management System, VALEX. The system included several processes working in parallel to segment and extract data based on Workflow graphs defined by users. The engines ran on dedicated servers, using RPC and CORBA to communicate. Initially written in MFC C++, the entire server was ported to Unix for cross-platform support. Eventually, the architecture was revised in favor of an extensible Transformer Graph featuring custom workflow plug-ins, CORBA, Java, and a webapp for "thin client" support. The web UI was generated by transforming XML from the CORBA servers into HTML using XSLT. My role was to My role was to lead all server development and assimilate modern technology into the product line. Technologies included C++, MFC, RPC, IDL, CORBA, Java, JSP, Servlets, XML and XSLT.

Developed base architecture to support multiple collaborating servers used to carry out SQL workflow. The framework included a Request Manager process and a suite of Request Handler processes. The modules used RPC to orchestrate the processes and ODBC to access the database. The system was built in C++ on Windows using MFC. My role was to design and build the server framework for a startup company in Boston, which eventually became Exchange Applications. Technologies included C, C++, MFC, DCE-RPC and IDL.

Developed an ATM Device Controller module used to drive an army of ATM devices. The module was responsible for monitoring the health of the ATMs, downloading screens and states to them, forwarding transactions, and calculating bill-mix. The system was developed in C on an OS2 Warp platform. My role was to develop the software components, build out the hardware, and install/support the system onsite for several bank customers. Also developed network protocol converter needed to adapt company product to customer's external ATM network. The software was built on an AS400 system using RPG. My role was to develop the software and to travel onsite to Thailand to complete and install the system. My role was to adapt the product to custom networks for the AS400 team, and to develop the ATM device controller for the OS2 team Technologies included RPG, C, C++, DB2, Named Pipes and Network Protocols.
