Nampak are one of the world’s largest manufacturers of packaging. The Pennybridge site was created following the creation of an inplant contract to build a manufacturing facility on the site of a major customer. Responsibilities included: •Recruiting site management team, engineers and operations staff. Development of individuals during commencement of production on site. Scheduling training to ensure compliance as well as providing necessary skills to succeed. Recruitment was largely based upon personality profiling. In some cases recruiting individuals with little or no relative experience.•Working directly with on-site customer and co-ordinating start-up/ supply changeover.•Management of site operational budget.•Implementation of lean manufacturing principles in order to create an effective workspace and allow everyone a method to work to in order to reduce reject rates.•Continual improvement of site performance (initial Effy>80%, current =93%). 85% of KPIs achieved in Year1. Site produces over 7M bottles a month.•Monthly reporting of performance and accounts to head office.Achievements delivered within 3 years of startup were:•Site is significantly under-utilised however due to effective cost management a profit is being achieved on £5M+ turnover.•No RIDDORs. No EL Claims.•Delivered an 11% energy cost reduction on site in 12 months. •Pennybridge achieved the highest risk management audit score in Nampak Europe in 2013. This is measured against the Willis Blue Standard.•Pennybridge returns month on month the lowest unaccountable material figures and most effective material utilisation figures in Nampak Europe.•Reduced salary cost per million bottles by over 10% by implementing management restructure in 2012.•Delivered upon Corporate and Social Responsibility by activities in mathematics classes in secondary schools, a diversification design challenge at Queen’s University and growing links with milk producers via agricultural events.

MVP Golf Distribution was setup to allow Adams Golf product to be sold in golf shops throughout Ireland.Role included face to face contact with customers and resolution of any payment or supply issues. Support was also provided with Adams Golf activity on European Tour. Club assembly and fitting assistance was provided at many events causing an increase in club count at each event attended.

Following a restructure of the engineering department it was realised that production development required a higher priority and greater resources were allocated to this area. The job entails:•Analysis of specific aspects of production and machine downtime to understand weaknesses and potential areas for improvement.•Cost justification for recommended improvements that develop from extensive analysis.•Implementing Lean Manufacturing techniques. •Created teams to complete production development projects using the 5S method.•Using OEE to understand equipment performance.•Managing over 30 people and responsible for all machines including ancillary equipment, such as chillers, compressors, dehumidifiers etc. Beverage Plastics currently have 12 injection moulding machines, 5 stretch blow moulding machines and 1 shrink sleeving machine.
