I am a tertiary trained consultant hepatologist with experience in the management of all aspects of advanced liver disease care. My tertiary and liver transplant experience was gained as a hepatology fellow at the world famous Institute of Liver Studies at Kings College Hospital in London. I spent eight years as a consultant hepatologist in Plymouth, UK, and was instrumental in the development of the South West Liver Unit there. I was a consultant hepatologist on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Australia for 10 years and established a tertiary liver service at the new Sunshine Coast University Hospital. I developed a comprehensive liver cancer service there from scratch. We were the first regional hospital in Queensland to establish a TIPSS service. I was the clinical director of gastroenterology and hepatology for 4 years guiding the department through both the transition to a new 2billion dollar hospital and the COVID pandemic. In 2023, seeking new challenges and attracted to outreach work in remote and regional communities, I moved to Far North Queensland. Development of a third liver cancer service is planned! m a fully trained therapeutic endoscopist with particular expertise in advanced biliary endoscopy (ERCP) and the endoscopic management of portal hypertension. I am an accomplished medical educator and a coauthor of a bestselling undergraduate text.
