Wilderness Family Therapy

Coordinated and facilitated programming, taught, and co-facilitated all logistics for a two-week spiritual retreat for youth aged 16-28.

Co-facilitated 3-hour Family Therapy Sessions, 3-hour Addiction Recovery Groups, 3-hour Parent Process Groups, and 4-hour Multi-Family Groups. Directed individual, group, and family therapy sessions in the backcountry for at-risk youth (aged 13-18) and families in a Gestalt-based wilderness therapy program. Family Therapy, Case Management

Managed all logistical operations and volunteers for a 21-person Spiritual Community including creating a weekly schedule, conducting interviews, performing evaluations, and offering mentoring.

Lead process and psycho-educational groups, individual counseling sessions and facilitated case management. Provided crisis intervention counseling and ongoing counseling to a caseload of up to 16 clients, including individuals, groups and families. Conducted client intakes and evaluations, including treatment planning, case notes and follow-up.

Led groups of adults with addiction issues in the backcountry for a 12-step, spiritually-based wilderness drug and alcohol recovery program. Facilitated relapse prevention, psycho-educational and chemical dependency groups.Co-facilitated end-of-treatment intensive family workshops.

Conducted individual and group therapy sessions in the backcountry for 11-13 year old at-risk youth. Facilitated end-of-treatment family therapy sessions. Authored treatment plans, progress notes and discharge summaries. Communicated with educational consultants, clinical professionals, and parents. Co-facilitated field crises such as medical emergencies.

Lectured class of college students with diverse ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds. Planned and implemented curriculum in 4 credit Intermediate Algebra. Led discussions and prepared and administered exams.

Led groups of behaviorally and emotionally challenged adolescents (aged 11-18) on improving effective communication skills, promoting healthy family systems, and healthy living habits for an at-risk youth wilderness therapy program.

Managed all field operations and 30-person staff for a non-profit wilderness therapy program working with at-risk youth (aged 11-18). Supervised up to 48 students and 16 staff in the field. Trained and coached field staff. Communicated with parents, managed field crises, and facilitated weekly staff in-services, briefings and de-briefings.
