Head Of Credit Stress Test & Potential Exposure
Head Of Risk Reporting & Analytics
Reporting to the Chief Risk Officer (CRO) of Shell Trading & Supply, I lead a global team of 24 people, across five locations, responsible for delivering key global Market and Credit Risk Reporting and Analytics activities. Working with peers in the CRO's Risk Leadership Team (LT), I am shaping the transformation journey for Risk and enacting change across the global organisation. In particular, enhancing governance, implementing a global credit system and developing new reporting and analytics capabilities.
Interim Head Of Global Commodity Risk Management Solutions Team
I led the CRMS team through Shell's global Reshape reorganization which transitioned them to the Risk Reporting and Analytics team. Despite the associated challenges of COVID-19, I have provided immediate, positive impact through the following actions:- Improved team morale and engagement through a combination of 1-2-1 and group engagements to demonstrate leadership and support during the period of uncertainty. - Engaged key stakeholders to ensure their continued support, understand any challenges with the CRMS team and agreed how these would be addressed. - Ensured key processes (such as Key SOX controls) continued to operate effectively by intervening where prioritisation was needed and providing guidance. - Becoming an active member of the Risk Management Leadership team – including Market and Credit Risk LTs – to advocate for CRMS, contribute to other teams and agree how to support priority items.
Enterprise Risk Advisor
Following the creation of the T&S Enterprise Risk Management team in 2016, I held the sole Enterprise Risk Advisor role responsible for developing a holistic view of Risk Management across the entirety of T&S. Key achievements (four recognised by SRA) include:- Producing the quarterly T&S Enterprise Risk Report, and managing RMF submissions to EC-1 forums, which developed my ability to deliver complex information to senior executives in a simple, accessible manner with confidence and efficiency- Created a previously unachieved global view of Price Exposures in T&S, which acted as proof of concept for the creation of Quant Portal’s Value at Risk platform for T&S.- Coordinating a consolidated, cross-T&S view of positions being taken to monetise the IMO 2020 transition, resulting in regular reporting for material risk activities.- Initial introduction of a Trading Venue Policy for T&S in response to the market disruption caused by the failure of controls at the European NASDAQ exchange. - Piloted a consolidated, global view of credit exposures from structured trade finance, which resulted in the generation of consolidated reporting covering all T&S LoBs.- Developed quarterly reporting to provide visibility of the combined impact of variation margin from both exchange traded and OTC derivative activities (now a routine daily report).
Guest Auditor
- I provide valuable experience and understanding of both T&S and Risk Management activities at a time when SIAI was short on specialist resources, receiving positive feedback from the T&S Audit Manager on my impact. - I gained a greater insight into the work undertaken in a SIAI audit and valuable understanding of how the Shell Control Framework links to critical activities in individual T&S businesses.
Portfolio Risk Mgr - Advance Credit Analytics
I provided SME knowledge on Credit Analytics and reporting activities, including developing and enhancing Potential Future Exposure (PFE) models and innovative credit portfolio structures. My achievements included receiving Special Recognition Awards (SRAs) for: acting as a Champion for Change (Project Dakar); Efficiency and value savings (Mercury); ensuring delivery in challenging circumstances (Project Merlin and Credit Risk Dashboard) and developing innovative control frameworks (Unsecured CRM Mandate).
Senior Credit Analyst - Swst & Global Marine
I supported the successful migration, from 'regional' to 'global' credit model by training and coaching the incoming SWST & Global Marine Credit Managers.
Letter Of Credit And Collateral Management Team
- Whilst Acting WONA MTH Credit Manager (Sep ’12 to Jul ’13) I successfully re-engaged stakeholders in a challenging business area including managing down overdues from unacceptable levels.- I took a leading role in mitigating the impact of a multimillion-dollar counterparty default by leading communications and negotiations, identifying AML issues and engaging BID for support in a timely manner.
