I've worked with a number of different technology startups - at various stages of their development (from pre-launch to well-established) and in a range of capacities including consulting, advising, mentoring, performance monitoring and angel investing. My focus has been very much on the operational front, driven by my experience of operationalising and building the Fizzback business from the initial three person founding team through rapid expansion, organisational and functional scale, and successful exit.

MOO is an award-winning online print business, passionate about great design and the difference it can make to its customers and the world. I joined MOO in a new role as VP Business Development. My remit is to explore and develop exciting new opportunities for the business, outside of the core areas, that could be transformational in some way. These include:- MOO for Business – our dedicated service proposition for ‘bigger’ businesses. I started by mentoring and guiding a small team, working on this fledgling venture. This evolved into Exec-level management and responsibility for the fastest-growth area of the business – a best of breed operation delivering superlative service, customer delight and 100%+ y/y growth.- Strategic partnerships & joint venturesIdentifying major core potential partners, fostering strong relationships with key contacts, developing exciting proposals, and building compelling business cases for the partners and MOO- New sales channels & routes to marketDeveloping a convincing proposal for a large-scale retail proposition that would expedite the evolution of MOO into a truly multi-channel retail operation. This included a significant research project, resulting in a solid business model and investment case.- M&AIdentifying and exploring potential acquisition opportunities that could enhance MOO’s market position and product offering- Digital products & servicesI launched Offset – MOO’s digital studio – as a stand-alone operation to design & build digital-first products and services that complement and enhance MOO’s core physical products. This included hiring the core team, establishing the office, and providing the framework, processes and reporting to enable this team to provide optimal value.I'm also a member of the MOO senior management team, with associated involvement in company strategy, board level reporting and day to day corporate management.

NICE Fizzback is a global provider of Customer Feedback & Voice of the Customer solutions that drive customer loyalty and employee performance, helping companies listen, respond and act in real-time to their customers’ comments. I was one of the founding team of three at Fizzback, and have played a pivotal role in the growth of the business over the past 7 years from scratch to a company of 130 staff and acquisition by NICE Systems in October 2011 for $80m. My role within the business has covered all commercial elements - I started as Commercial Director (responsible for business development, marketing & sales as well as delivery & client management), but have been Operations Director since October 2006.

Instigated, developed & built a new recruitment division within the overall company framework, (New Media Appointments) focusing on, and specialising in the new media industry. Also a Director of the Graduate Appointments Ltd group with corporate responsibilities including operational management, budgets, advertising, staffing and recruitment issues, IT, and corporate strategy including the development of business and financial plans.
