Since joining the company, my role has included:• Full CAD model design of ScarabTech's plastic to energy machine• Generation and maintenance of the bill of materials for the manufacture of the system• Small component fabrication and full assembly of the prototype machine• Testing and characterising the new system in preparation for full automation• Implementing of all the required sensors from both a hardware and software point of view • Programming of the control system and user interface

Kopter SH09 Helicopter (ex Marenco Swisshelicopter)• Full wind tunnel model design, instrumentation and testing • Machining and instrumenting of the wind tunnel model components and 6 axis balance• Design and installation of various modifications to the wind tunnel layout• Modal testing of the prototype fuselage and rotor blades in Switzerland• Ground resonance testing on the prototype aircraft• Helped to solve flutter and ground resonance problems prior to first flight• Whirl tower testing of various rotorhead layouts• Instrumentation of various components during ground resonance and whirl tower testing• Setup and running of fatigue testing on elastomeric bearings and blade mounting components• Assistance with flying missions on the in-house flight simulator for evaluating flight loads• Undercarriage design and scale undercarriage drop testingOtherlab, San Francisco - collaboration:The main task was to design, build and test a small helicopter capable of lifting a 25kg communication payload to a few thousand feet.• Design and manufacture of the main rotorhead and physical control system for the helicopter• Whirl tower testing of the rotorhead• Implementation onto and testing of the new rotorhead on the rest of the aircraft• Various electronics and instrumentation fixes during initial testing• Smaller projects involving simple flying devicesExplosives simulation and testing:• Running simulations on and field testing of new landmine and explosive protected armoured vehicles.• Blast mitigation seat testingSmaller projects that took place simultaneously with other larger projects:• Various electronics projects• Instrumentation and testing of mining shuttle cars to aid in their redesign• Small CFD projects• Static and dynamic finite element analysis tasks on small structures and components• Involved in the design of new UAV's• Design, wind tunnel testing and ballistic testing of ballistic louvers for armoured vehicles

• Set up of the SACAA approved design organisation• Creating the Design Organisation Manual of Procedures• Design and implementation of customer requested modifications and upgrades on Eurocopter helicopters and ensuring compliance with the airworthiness requirements• Project management of the move of the company from Lanseria to Grand Central Airport. This involved:­ -Design and setup of the new offices with the architects­ -Design and setup of new workshop facilities with the architects­ -Managing the process of the move from the initial phase to implementationRelocation of more than 80 employees, the maintenance hanger, the warehouse hanger and work in progress aircraft was achieved successfully, with the new premises being completely renovated and customised for the companies needs.
