About Jonathan Onyango

I worked retail all throughout my time at the University of Utah. I was a restaurant server for two and a half years, but before that, worked front desk at a theatre. I studied acting in university and would go on to get an internship at a professional, regional theatre which introduced me to the theatre industry and walked me through the business side of things as well as performing on stage with other professionals. I would go on to graduate and be the only student speaker at my graduation ceremony representing the entire college of fine arts. I've now relocated from Salt Lake City to New York City. I'm currently the lead barista at a cafe.As the Lead Barista at the 74th St Cafe, I take immense pride in my role, where I oversee all aspects of our coffee experience. At its core, my job is about crafting exceptional coffee and leading a dedicated team of baristas who share my passion for the art of coffee.With every cup we serve, I strive to create more than just a beverage; I aim to deliver an experience that reflects quality and care. My responsibilities are diverse, but they all revolve around creating a memorable coffee experience for our customers.Leading by example, I foster a collaborative and motivated team that upholds our cafe's high standards for customer service and product quality. Building connections with our patrons is of utmost importance to me, ensuring that each visit leaves them feeling welcomed, valued, and with a smile on their faces.Quality control is a cornerstone of my role, and I'm responsible for ensuring that our coffee beans, equipment, and brewing methods consistently meet our cafe's rigorous quality standards.
