I was born in 1929. My father was a watchmaker and I was planning to continue his work. However, when the atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima my father demanded that I forget watchmaking and study nuclear physics. Following his dream for me, I graduated from Princeton in 1952 with a Ph.D. in Atomic Physics got a job at a facility that studied intrinsic fields. While working at a research base in the Gila Flats, I fell in love with Janey Slater, and when her watch was broken by a fat man, I volunteered to fix it. After fixing it, I forgot it in my lab coat inside a test chamber. When I entered was trapped inside and the countdown was initiated. When it finished the intrinsic field generators turned on my body was vaporized. A couple of months later I put myself back together and now I have the powers of a God and I understand and can manipulate time. Later in life, I fell in love with Laurie Juspeczyk.I always say, "There is no future. There is no past...Time is simultaneous, an intricately structured jewel that humans insist on viewing one edge at a time, when the whole design is visible in every facet," because it reflects how different I am from average humans. I have powers and mental capacity that humans could never dream of. A firm believer in utilitarian ethics would think his actions are justified because he does the most good for the most people. For example, when he transports people back to their homes from the police riots, a few suffer heart attacks from the shock. However, Dr. Manhatten states that even though some people were lost, his action was right as many more would have died in the riots. This idea is also seen in his decision to cover-up the mass murder committed by Ozymandius because, through the murder, millions more were saved from nuclear war."
