My research interests are in the area of occupational (I/O) psychology, specifically in the designing, delivery, and evaluation of interventions geared towards enhancing employees and student psychological resources (such as Psychological Capital), engagement, and satisfaction. Effective interventions lead to significantly higher worker and student performance, greater organizational citizenship behavior, and financial returns. Therefore, making sure interventions are evaluated and assessed using relevant validity and reliability measures is important for companies to get a significant return on investment from them. The previous paragraph emphasizes the organizational benefits of cultivating peoples’ psychological resources, but to just minimize this to work life is unreasonable. The application of positive psychology to all fields and walks of life with the mission of improving peoples’ well-being is a broader, but much more meaningful and aspirational one.
