After finishing my degree at OCTC I spent 7 months volunteering in Guatemala doing various types of humantarian work. Upon returning stateside, I joined the workforce at Chick-fil-A and quickly rose to a leadership role created just for my particular skillset. I worked in the kitchen primarily, but I was also a primary trainer and any special projects the owner needed done were usually handed to me to get completed. After 2 years with Chick-fil-A I accepted a position with UniFirst Corporations Owensboro distribution office. I was hired to be a trainer in the Direct Sales Processing department for 2nd shift. In less than a year I was moved to be a trainer on day shift. Our work was very fast paced and detail oriented due to the quality control aspect of that department. I was cross-trained in 2 other departments and was a member of the safety team during my 2 years with UniFirst. I got into a serious relationship during that time and took a job in Madisonville, KY working for J-Lok Corporation. I was primarily a palletizer, but was also cross-trained as an operator. I spent 2 years on the safety team with them as well being trained and certified in First Aid, CPR, and AED. I accepted the job of my current company and moved back to Owensboro in 2019. Finally having a career that utilized my skills and degree was a proud moment for me and my career offers many opportunities for self-improvement and learning. I'm now a Non-Destructive Evaluation Level 2 technician in Penetrant Testing (PT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), and Ultrasonic Thickness Testing (UTT). I am on the path to becoming a Level 2 Radiography technician as well and have my sights on completing CWI and several API certifications as well as advanced ultrasonic techniques within my field.
