At heart I am a languages teacher (German, Spanish and French) who delivers high quality lessons that challenge and motivate, enabling students of all abilities to achieve their best. In 2017, my GCSE Spanish students were the second best cohort in Somerset for achievement (average 5.83 pts) and third best for progress (0.08), with the department results in the top 10% nationally and results for high achievers in the top 7%.I have experience of running a high-performing cross-curricular team during times of challenge and change. I care for my colleagues and their wellbeing is a priority for me. I enjoy seeing them teach, because as teachers, I believe we learn best from each other. It is then vital to share these ideas across the team and possibly beyond. I also love providing top-quality learning experiences for students of all abilities. As such I have organised many extra-curricular and school-wide opportunities for students to enhance their learning outside of the normal classroom situation.At every opportunity, I use global learning across the school community to open the minds of young people to new cultures, to challenge stereotypes and promote greater awareness of the world beyond their current context. I look constantly to provide students with opportunities to learn about new cultures at first hand, organising school exchanges and trips, visiting speakers and projects to enhance the student experience both inside and outside school.
