After getting my UP bachelor's degree in Political Science (Cum Laude) in 1992, I was exposed early on in government service with stints at the Department of Labor and Employment and the House of Representatives.Work took a back seat in lieu of preparations for the 2000 Bar Examinations.After passing the bar in 2001, I started my law career with a general practice law firm. In no time, I realized that I was becoming more of a jack of all trades practitioner, yet a master of none.In search for a legal field to specialize on, towards the latter part of 2002, I found Bengzon Negre Untalan Intellectual Property Attorneys ("BNU," back then known as Bengzon & Negre, a one year start-up in the field of IP law practice).BNU opened up a lot of opportunities for me that include teachings stints in two Metro Manila colleges of law (New Era University and San Sebastian College), and also stints as lecturer for the Philippine Judicial Academy (PHILJA), for several Mandatory Continuing Legal Education (MCLE) seminars, for the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippinexs (IPOPhl), the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), the Department of Health (DOH) and other government agencies.It was also while with BNU that I took and passed the Patent Agents' Qualifying Examination (PAQE) in furtherance of my patent practice. I am currently one of the few Registered Patent Agents in the country.
