I am an ACCA qualified financial controller of a group of companies, with more than 15 years experience in finance. During this time I have worked within different dynamic service industries namely marketing, media, advertising, audio visual, 3D and tourism.Currently I manage the department responsible for finance and administration. I have a hands-on management approach and dedicate time to mentor team members to help them grow within their roles. There has always been mutual respect and trust within my team, I feel this really helps with the team members' motivation. An integral part of my role is gathering good data, analysing it, and presenting it. Excel and pivot tables have always been extremely useful tools when I am preparing reports and through the use of Power BI, I create different dashboards for different people/departments. In doing so, I ensure that that the data is clear, concise and relevant - especially when it comes to KPI and budget reporting."We have always done it this way" is not a phrase you would hear from me. I am always looking for new ways to improve internal controls and processes and am proud of the processes I managed to simplify, improve or automate. I always encourage members of my team to suggest new ways of doing things and some of the best ideas do come from bottom-up communication.
