While I was in high school, at Gates-Chili, a business teacher lead me to join the Young Entrepreneurs Academy. While I was in the program I developed a business plan, pitched my idea to a panel of investors, and launched my start-up called ROC Your Meals. The company offered cooking kits to help families prepare healthy meals focused around a particular protein group. Each cooking kit contained one bottle of gourmet sauce and two jars of artisan dry rubs, accompanied by easy to follow recipes. I worked with my grandfather to develop new sauces, dry rubs, and recipes to add to our product line. We developed a product line that was customer tested and approved at local festivals, farmers markets, and trade shows. One of my best sellers was ROC Your Bird, which was a chicken and poultry themed cooking kit. With our growing success we worked our product line into 12 local retail locations around the Rochester area.
