I have managed various programmes of delivery across different government areas:• Delivered organisational test policy and strategy for the Ministry of Justice.• Managed testing for several programmes, including: Home Office Digital – to delivery numerous services replacing manual processes with online capabilities via gov.uk Digital Analytics – development of a large MI database, capable of mining information from numerous sources and providing user-defined analytics. Legal Aid Agency – maintenance of existing functionality and development of new processes to enable payments and increased capability for the LAA.• Responsible for setting and monitoring the budget for testing, resource management, setting the strategy and working with other key stakeholders to deliver successful testing.• Provided Agile consultancy and training across Government, as an enabler to a collaborative and principled delivery approach. The broad stakeholder engagement allows me to use lessons learned to drive process improvement within testing. My aim is to have better engagement with stakeholders, as well as a better understanding from my own teams. • To support delivery of testing, I regularly interview staff for permanent roles with the organisation and conduct interviews with contract staff. I manage the personal development of permanent staff who report into me and hold regular reviews with suppliers regarding contract staff supplied to my teams. I currently have around 25 staff under my management across my two delivery areas.• Within the Legal Aid Agency, I am driving changes in the overall delivery process to achieve more effective and higher quality software methods, in support of BDD. Part of this involves deployment of new test automation processes in a DevOps environment.

Worked for British Gas, which is a part of Centrica PLC, as Test Manager for a number of online projects. My first project was the launch of a partnership website with Sainsburys, which offered gas and electricity to customers. Online transactions were supported by a SAP system, which required complex changes. The project went from inception to launch in four months. During projects, I had a team of between 10 to 15 direct reports, with an overall team of around 30 testers. I worked with test teams onshore and in India and South Africa to deliver projects, working to an Agile / Scrum methodology. As part of my role, I was also responsible for process improvement within the department, focusing on best practices in QualityCentre.

Moved to testing from development and took the ISEB Foundation Course. In a role as a Test Lead, I was required to analyse project requirements and produce test estimates, strategies and functional test plans. I also supplied regular progress reports and test completion reports at the end of the work. During the course of testing, I was responsible for System Testing teams of between four and ten people, giving direction and support for the scripting and executing of tests within TestDirector. I had regular meetings with the User Acceptance Testing team to enable a good and efficient working relationship and also provided support for defect management.I was expected to work in a multi-platform environment, supporting different areas of the business on the mainframe, iSeries (AS/400) and PC applications. I passed the ISEB Intermediate Course for software testing in 2009. I was responsible for resourcing, reporting and control of multiple projects in a single release. I was also expected to give direction for testing processes and act as liaison with other departments to ensure successful project deliveries. The teams were based in UK and India, so regular and clear communication was essential.

Moved to NIG as an Analyst/Programmer on the mainframe. Initially employed to supplement the Claims and Accounts support teams, I moved onto the Financial Credit team early in 1998 to understand more of the business. As well as coding, I was also involved in analysis and determining user requirements on several key developments. As projects permitted, I gained some experience in project management and leading small teams, including two areas of Y2K compliance. Responsible for research and development on other key changes, including the rollout of an EDI system.

Joined a medical insurance company as a Trainee Programmer in IDEAL on the mainframe. Promoted after eight months to Junior programmer. Initially coded from a supplied specification, but was soon involved in user liaison and program design. Mostly involved with the finance and claims parts of the system.
