Solicitor in the private client department, specialising in drafting Wills and preparing Lasting Powers of Attorney applications

Having spent the first six months of my time with Whiskers LLP within the commercial conveyancing team, handling commercial leasehold matters, I worked predominantly within the Private Client department. My work focused mainly on drafting Wills and preparing Lasting Power of Attorney applications, along with providing advice on related matters.This is an area I enjoy and I plan to expand my knowledge and practice experience in both Probate and Estate Planning.

In this role, I was the spearpoint for the provision of a bespoke background analysis service; whereby through rigorous scrutiny of client documentation and in-depth assessment of the historical provisions of various nation states’ legal frameworks, I determined the client’s status as a British national (whether that be a British citizen or otherwise) or not. Requiring a deep understanding of both national and international legal systems, as well as constitutional interactions between territories and Britain, I both founded and developed a knowledge bank for my team that enabled the prompt determination of an individual’s status that allowed the creation of a ‘skeleton argument’ for any future application to the Home Office/ Passport Office.Selected to lead this function through my prior commitment to delivery and performance as a fleet-footed practitioner best suited to having to innovate whilst maintaining operational delivery. The caseload backlog was reduced and at the time of my departure, there were no cases left that hadn’t been examined in some format , delighting clients and restoring control to the management of these complex cases.

As an immigration caseworker, I was primarily responsible for constructing and presenting immigration applications to the Home Office for those with visas in the UK. By the very nature of this work, all cases are time-sensitive, highly personal and significant to the clients concerned. The understanding, management and prioritisation of cases was crucial to ensuring clients were not constrained by visa expiry / intended travel dates. Cases regularly involved analysis of clients’ financial standing, requiring a strong grasp of the detail of complicated personal and business accounting as well as the development of professional relationships with 3rd party accountants and financial controllers. During my time as an immigration caseworker I became registered with the OISC (Office of the Immigration Services Commissioner) as a level 1 advisor, a qualification I have retained.

Traditional recruitment role based in the Czech Republic, meeting client demand using our candidate database and client requirements to search and position candidates for applications. Additionally, responsible for the growth of the business by the approach and acquisition of new firms and the growth of existing accounts. Responsible for the vital maintenance and accuracy of data contained within our candidate management system which enable the near endless set of variables be controlled for over 6000 candidates under my management. End to end control of clients’ application process, from the creation of concise and clear advertising copy for current vacancies through to advice and support on interview, the offer & acceptance stages and final compensation negotiation. Whilst joining as a graduate, I was promoted to a junior consultant within 4 months of joining and became the principal consultant responsible for vacancies in the midlands and the North West of England working with multi-million local authorities securing their talent in the social care sector.
