Jonathan Prince has been creating sculpture since his childhood and now as a full time artist since 2004. He has had a diverse career in the arts and sciences and has also produced several large-scale art and technology installations, notably the Hologlobe which was displayed at The Smithsonian Institution and dedicated by Vice President Al Gore.Within Prince’s fine art practice, the new Eli and Edythe Broad Art Museum at Michigan State University recently acquired his work, Vestigial Block. The monumentally sized sculpture is one of three works that is permanently installed in the Zaha Hadid designed Sculpture Garden.Vestigial Block was first exhibited in 2011 – 2012 at the Sculpture Garden at 590 Madison Avenue as part of Prince’s Torn Steel exhibition. The series’ principal theme explores “interrupted” iconographic forms through oxidized and stainless steel surfaces. Prince also had an exhibition in 2012 of monumental steel sculptures at Christie’s Sculpture Garden at 535 Madison Avenue in NY. Additionally, Prince’s work, G2V, was on view at Dag Hammarskjold Plaza outside of the United Nations in New York City in 2012 - 2013. Currently Prince has a solo exhibition of two monumental granite works at Pier 64, Hudson River Park in NY City from October 2013 - Spring 2014.Born in New York City, Prince has worked there and in Los Angeles since attending Columbia University where he earned a doctorate degree and later, at The University of Southern California for post-doctorate studies.
