Jonathan Pruden is Wounded Warrior Project’s® Special Advisor to the Chief of Staff for Warrior Care. In this role he responds to highly sensitive and critical referrals of warriors in complex crisis, conducts initial assessments, and connects them to needed resources. He serves as a liaison for high profile warrior care situations ensuring rapid, coordinated, and collaborative responses to warriors with difficult, complex, urgent issues requiring special attention and coordination. Jonathan began his career as an Army officer, serving first as a Medical Service Corps Officer and later as an Infantry Officer. He was on the initial invasion of Iraq with 3rd Infantry Division and on July 1st, 2003 became one of the first Improvised Explosive Device (IED) casualties of Operation Iraqi Freedom. While undergoing 20 operations at seven different hospitals, including the amputation of his right leg, he earned his MA in Public Affairs from the University of Florida and started working with Wounded Warrior Project. Mr. Pruden currently serves on the Veterans’ Family, Caregiver and Survivor Federal Advisory Committee. He has testified on five separate occasions before U.S. Senate and U.S. House committees about DoD-VA Transition Issues, Palliative Care, Prosthetics/ DME, support for caregivers, and care for those struggling with PTS and TBI. He helped develop Working with Wounded Warriors (W4) for the White House and has presented modified versions of this curriculum to the White House, Federal Agencies, Fortune 500 Companies, national non-profits, and law enforcement personnel. He also helped develop WWP's Peer Support Program which trains warriors on how they can support their brothers and sisters just beginning their road to recovery and embody the WWP logo of one warrior carrying another off the battlefield.He is Vice President of the Board of Directors for the Center for Independent Living of North Central Florida and volunteers with Team Rubicon and 4-H. Mr. Pruden regularly engages in policy work and frequently speaks to groups about his experiences, and the challenges facing this generation of injured service members. In his free time, he enjoys exploring the great outdoors with his wife and kids.
