I graduated from Pacific U earning my PharmD on 05/18/2013. My life in pharmacy started long before that though. I could say pharmacy chose me, but I would have to credit my father for introducing me to it when I was very young. I could tell my father loved his job as an Active Duty (AD) pharmacist (RPh) and that was what always intrigued me. Unfortunately, it took a long time for me to fall in love with pharmacy the way he did.I started my career in pharmacy as an AD Airman pharm tech in the USAF. I spent 6 years there developing interesting experiences and meeting some great people along the way. While AD I decided to continue working towards becoming an RPh. During those last couple years AD I started to see why my father loved pharmacy so much. I knew I always wanted to help people, but it wasn’t until that time I figured out how I could accomplish that doing what I was doing.After I figured out that pharmacy was for me, I continued my undergrad at UCCS in Colorado Springs (CS) until accepted at Pacific U as a PharmD student. Those were some of the hardest and most rewarding years of my life. After pharmacy school I worked retail for almost a year until a friend introduced me to Indian Health Service (IHS). I wanted to continue Federal Service in some way also. This seemed to marry my goals together perfectly. IHS was a great opportunity and am extremely grateful and proud to this day. I had the distinct pleasure of working for IHS as a staff pharmacist in Nespelem WA for 4 years serving the descendants of the 12 bands of tribes. I started their first clinical pharmacy program ever, which was the tobacco cessation clinic. It was very successful and rewarding.While working for IHS an opportunity to work in my home town of CS as an outpatient RPh at Fort Carson came up, so I accepted that position to be closer to family. A couple years later I was honored again to accept a position as a clinical RPh there. I have worked as a clinical RPh since.
